Hazy Ape Hemp Co. isn’t new to me. They sent all six of their HHC carts in 2023, and aside from an eventual clog in Winter Mint, I vaped each from start to end.
Since then, I’ve experimented with a growing pool of hemp brands—some established, others up-and-coming. Hazy Ape is one of the more memorable. They’re not too revolutionary as far as 510 weed carts go, but I appreciate their signature touch now more than ever: terpenes. Too many manufacturers consider terps an afterthought.
The Hazy Ape vape catalog is still restricted to HHC products (carts only, no HHC disposables), with delta 8 carts on the way. It’s a limited selection compared to the hoard of half-baked cannabis products that shops often strive toward.
This time around, I received a fresh batch of Hazy Ape HHC carts, plus their new 510 thread battery. Keep reading to find out if Hazy Ape has what it takes to stay at the top in 2024.

Size, weight, and feel
We’re talking about 510 thread carts here, so unless you’re a first-time vaper, you know about what to expect.
Hazy Ape’s one-gram HHC carts weigh in at 1.4 oz. Space for flair is limited, so the design touches that are included don’t go unnoticed: a tiny Hazy Ape logo printed on the borosilicate glass chamber, plus a color-coded band above the threading.
Each strain has a slightly different look. Even if your carts don’t find their way back into the original boxes, there shouldn’t be any mix-ups.
All six HHC carts share solid white acrylic mouthpieces. The pre-heat battery comes wrapped in a soft, all-white casing, save for the Hazy Ape logo and metal details (button, charging port, and threading).
Also, I ran into an odd discrepancy between the battery’s manual and the product itself. Both the Hazy Ape site and booklet describe it as USB-C rechargeable, but it’s only compatible with micro-USB. Your purchase even includes a small micro-USB cable.
Getting started
Hazy Ape’s carts are 510 threaded and can be screwed onto a compatible battery of choice, including the brand’s own.
Charge the Hazy Ape battery via USB-A to micro-USB (not USB-C). It’ll take around 40 minutes to reach full power. Then, use the following button commands to turn your pen on/off and toggle between settings:
- Five clicks to power on or off.
- Two clicks to begin pre-heating (~15 seconds).
- Three clicks to enable voltage adjustments
- (With voltage adjustments enabled) click to toggle between white (2.7 V), blue (3.1 V), or red (3.6 V).
How does it hit?
It’ll sure sound like it, but this isn’t a hard complaint: Hazy Ape’s HHC carts aren’t the most potent. The high doesn’t stick around for too long, either. It can fade within an hour, depending on how much use I’ve gotten out of the product.
You're more likely to reach a well-rounded, functional peak, which Hazy Ape is perfectly upfront about in their marketing. Zero claims about unparalleled euphoria. An intermittent puff can serve as a mid-day de-stressor (just keep it light), or with generous use, Hazy Ape’s HHC has helped me fall asleep.
Quality-wise, these trump budget HHC carts or blends any day. The lift is clear and reliable, and while it doesn’t vary tremendously between strains, I haven’t had anything near an adverse reaction. But I’m a regular HHC user and enjoyer, so keep that in mind.
Another sacrifice? You’re in for an investment at full price: $39.99 per gram without a discount code. Whether that’s worth it depends on the experience you’re looking for. If you want to take a few hits and get so high you can’t think straight, Hazy Ape isn’t for you.
Pre-heat 510 battery
There’s not too much to say about Hazy Ape’s stick battery. It heats up quickly and keeps your vapor clean and rich, so assuming you don’t have a device on hand, I’d recommend it. Just expect a utilitarian product, not a super innovative one.
If you already have a trusted 510 thread battery, I wouldn’t rush to get a hold of Hazy Ape’s. It may be worth picking one up as a spare, especially if you're in the market for a slim, functionally simple device—and at $14.95, it’s on the affordable side.
Are the flavors any good?
Hazy Ape hits a (metaphorical) sweet spot, and it’s not one every hemp brand pulls off: rich and fruity strains, without going full-on sweet. Instead of cheap flavoring, Hazy Ape depends on special terpene blends to fill out the oil’s profile.
Each HHC cart’s COA offers a detailed breakdown of its terpene and teraponid contents. Again, not a perk you’ll get from all hemp manufacturers.
Past that, Hazy Ape carts give an accurate snapshot of their flavor right in the name. Just bear in mind that while sweetness is present, it’s on the subtler side and backed by grassiness. All to be expected from carts heavier on botanical terps.

Verdict
Given the high potential and steep cost of Hazy Ape’s carts, it would be great to see them branch into full-panel testing. Transparency is key for brands looking to stick out in today’s oversaturated hemp market. It still isn’t the norm to screen for contaminants like mycotoxins, microbials, and residual solvents—but it really needs to be.
Otherwise, I’d say that Hazy Ape is on the right track. I admire that they aren’t pumping out cannabinoid cocktails and seem to take their time developing each new product.
Hemp-inclined flavor seekers can head in Hazy Ape’s direction, given the brand’s intense focus on botanical terpenes. Few manufacturers bother with such detailed breakdowns. Alternatively, if your goal is max intensity, look elsewhere. These carts are potent enough, but the effects are clear and functional.
I’ll be keeping an eye on Hazy Ape. For now, I appreciate where they’re headed.
